On March 26th, Lush Book Club will present an evening on How We Tell Stories…
We’ve gathered some exciting wordsmiths to discuss all things on innovative storytelling. From choose-your-own-adventure books, to poetry, to time-hopping tales for the ages, we at Lush embrace effective storytelling and love to get ourselves lost in the escapism of it all.
Joining us on the panel will be, Naomi Ishiguro (Escape Routes), Kiran Millwood Hargrave (The Mercies) and Intan Paramaditha (The Wandering) hosted by Anna James.
Escape Routes is noted to be characterised by its own brand of pleasingly unsettling magic; the characters within this “delightfully speculative debut collection yearn for freedom and flight, and find their worlds transformed beyond their wildest imaginings.”
The Mercies, Kiran Millwood Hargrave’s first adult novel, is inspired by the real events of the Vardo storm and the 1621 witch trials; “a story of how suspicion can twist its way through a community, and a love that may prove as dangerous as it is powerful.”
Paramaditha’s novel, The Wandering, centers on the choices you make; about which pages to turn to, may mean you’ll become a tourist or an undocumented migrant, a mother or a murderer, and you will meet many travellers with their own stories to tell. It is described as “the most ingenious and unusual novel you will read all year.”
Tickets include entry to the event, soft drinks, cake, and a Lush product.
Copies of all three books will be on sale during the event through our partner bookseller, Blackwell's.
