Apple and Knife: Vintage Classics Weird Girls series 2025
This September, Vintage Classics is launching Weird Girls, a series of nine novels by pioneering female authors that will take you to the depraved, delectable depths of weird fiction.
Apple and Knife by Intan Paramaditha, translated by Stephen J. Epstein
STRANGE HORIZONS, Rachel Hill - With sexy monsters and the monstrously sexy, these stories map the ranges of female desire, rage and transformation. So be warned: here be empowered monsters. And they are hungry.
Apple and Knife: A Riot of Unruly Women
THE MONTHLY, Emily Bitto - “The stories in Apple and Knife are raw, fun, excessive, and told with a wink, but they are underlaid with an unsettling awareness of the common fate of ‘disobedient women’.”
Two-book deal with Harvill Secker
Harvill Secker has acquired two “fierce and unconventional” books from Indonesian writer Intan Paramaditha. It will publish feminist short story collection Apple and Knife in spring 2019 and The Wandering, a novel about displacement where the reader chooses their own narrative path, in 2020.
